Forsaken

Hurry
up, we are going to be late! I yelled to Grace. We had to catch our
flight before it takes off. Are you excited to go on vacation to the
Bahamas. She said yes. The flight was about to
take off in about five minutes. So we ran though the gates and rushed
into their reserved seats. After everyone was settled down, the captain
told them to sit down because they were about to take off. The engines
started up and we started to role over the runway. I could feel they
engine throttle start bucking. We took off, and me and Grace fell
asleep.
We
woke up to people yelling and screaming that they were going to die. I
heard that the pilot had a stroke and nobody else could fly the plane,
that’s when I knew that we were going to crash land somewhere in the
ocean. I looked out the window and saw the ocean getting closer and
closer. I turned to Grace and said that I loved her. The wings of the
plane snapped off and hit the back of the plane and started to dip into
the ocean. That was the last thing that I remember before waking up
floating in the middle of the ocean. Grace was next to me when I woke
up. She had a deep cut on her leg and she was bleeding quickly. I
realized that we needed something to stop the bleeding before sharks
would pick up the smell. But it was to late.
Some
of the other survivors were floating in the water next to us. He was
thrashing and screaming because something touched his leg. The next
thing I noticed, was it was completely silent, except for the gentle
waves crashing into a shore. An island I thought. Some of the other
survivors also fell victims to the sharks. We had to do something. I
told the other people that we needed to follow the sound of the waves
crashing. Many people just wanted to stay there because they were afraid
of the sharks. But I said that they were certainly going to die if they
stay here. We agreed on what we would do. All of us started to swim
towards the sound, hoping and believing it was there. I could here
people screaming behind me because the sharks took another victim. The
thought of being eaten by a shark is in the front of my mind at this
time. But then I just wanted to see my wife Grace again if this does
happen to me or her.
We
have been swimming for what felt like hours but I checked my watch and
it has only been fifteen minutes. The sound was getting louder and
louder as we swam. Then, over the next wave I saw the tips of some palm
trees and I started to yell that we had found land. I was so excited
that I started swimming so fast that I got to the island before
everyone, they were at least five or six minutes till they get to the
island. I decided to swim back out to the survivors. I helped drag so of
the people who needed medical attention. One guy had a shark bite take
out of his torso, he was bleeding out fast and he was probably not going
to make it. One other guy had a deep cut on his head. The man with the
cut on his head was going to be okay because Grace gave him her scarf to
rap around his head. When I was done with man with the head wound I
rushed over to the man with the shark bite. He was bleeding fast and he
was fading quickly.
That man died in my arms, and I cant get that image out of my head. I feel like I could have saved him, but there was nothing I could do. After everyone was on the island, I ran over to Grace and I hugged her for the longest time. I was so relieved that she was safe. The other people that were on the island with were talking about making a camp site and a fire for the night. A couple of people went looking for some fire wood. they came back in about fifteen minutes with bundles of sticks and leaves from the palm trees. We asked around for a lighter, but nobody had one. One man came forward and he had a pocket knife. Grace was looking for a big enough rock that he could scrape the knife on and create sparks to light the fire. She came back with a handful. She went over to the man and gave a couple of the rocks. He started to scrape the knife against the rock. Sparks were flying everywhere. After about ten minutes the brush started to light up like a city at night. When the fire started, everyone on the island had a little hope. I saw people trying to go to sleep, so I went over to Grace and kissed her on the forehead and said goodnight.
I
woke up the next morning with a pounding headache. This is about time,
that I would take a Tylenol back home. I felt myself getting angry and
ripping down little trees and throwing rocks into the ocean. I was so
mad because I was going on my honeymoon, with my wife, and we crashed
into the damn ocean and now we are stranded out here in the middle of
nowhere. When II calmed down, the other people started to wake up and
wonder what was going on. I tried to get everybody in a small group so
we can learn each others name, if we were going to be here for a while.
Their names are: Robert, Bob, Sarah, and Hannah. They are very nice
people but they are scared out of their minds. I completely understand
what they are going through.
We
started searching the island for food and fresh water. After about
twenty minutes, Bob yelled that he found fresh water and some coconuts
and bananas. Everybody rushed over to Bob and started thank him. We had
plenty of bananas to last us for a couple weeks. I knew that we had to get off of this island before people started to go insane on whoever gets the last couple bananas.
I got Robert and Bob together to see if we could find stuff to make a raft or a big enough fire to get a ships attention. If they came out this far. I was hoping and praying to God that Grace and I would make it out alive. If something happens, I want Grace to make it out okay. We found four good and healthy palm trees that can be the frame on our raft. Grace, Sarah, and Hannah were looking for some kind of material to bind the four palm trees together. So we met back at the shore and we brought what we had collected. We got a fire going, and we all went to bed.
We woke up the next morning when we heard a loud horn. We ran to the raft and we jumped on rushing out to sea. We were all yelling and screaming at the ship. I saw that it was turning away and I was about to give up, when suddenly someone on the back end of the ship shouted look there’s people out there. I was so happy that I collapsed backwards onto the raft. Grace fell on top of me and said,” I love you.” And I smiled right back at her and said the same.
